Bhubaneswar: The death of a woman and her child allegedly due negligence in treatment sparked off tension at Kalinga Institute of Medial Sciences (KIMS) Hospital here on Sunday.
As per the information, a woman was admitted to the hospital on May 11 after experiencing labour pain. However, she died after giving birth to a baby the following day.
The newborn also took its last breath at the hospital this morning.
Soon after the incident, the family members accompanied by locals of Tangibanta area staged a dharna in front of the hospital alleging that lack of proper treatment and negligence led to the death of the woman and her child.
The locals demanded compensation for the family of the deceased and action against the employees of the hospital.
