Terrorist Assigned To Kill Nupur Sharma Arrested In UP
Lucknow: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh arrested Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Tehrikh-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)-linked terrorist Muhammad Nadeem from Saharanpur on Friday, just days ahead of the 75th Independence Day celebrations.
Nadeem was in direct contact with Pakistan-based terrorist outfits JeM and TTP, and was assigned to kill Nupur Sharma, ANI quoted UP ATS officials as saying.
Former BJP spokesperson Nupur was suspended by the saffron party after her objectionable comment on Prophet Mohammed triggered protests across the country and overseas as well.
According to Republic TV, UP ATS has recovered some documents, chats and voice messages related to action plan for killing Nupur.
Border Security Force (BSF) last month arrested a 24-year-old Pakistani man from the international Border in Rajasthan. He admitted that he had crossed the border with the intention of killing Nupur. Two knives and some documents were recovered from his possession.
UP ATS recently arrested an alleged Islamic State operative, who was allegedly planning to target a prominent RSS leader, from Azamgarh. Illegal firearms and materials used for making bombs were also recovered from the suspected IS operative.
