These people were working on a key infrastructure project in the area. 2 have been killed & 2-3 more have been injured in this militant attack. I strongly condemn this attack on unarmed innocent people & send my condolences to their loved ones,” tweeted chief minister Omar Abdullah.

According to initial reports, the deceased duo was part of the construction team working on the Z Morh tunnel, which connects Gagangir to Sonmarg in Ganderbal.

Two days ago, a migrant worker from Bihar was reportedly murdered by terrorists in Shopian district of south Kashmir. Local people found the man, with heavy wounds, on a roadside. He was shifted to a nearby district hospital, but didn’t survive.

These are the first incidents of terrorism since National Conference’s Omar Abdullah took oath as chief minister of the Union territory.
