The Last Insta Post Of Law Student Who Jumped Off 8th Floor In Bhubaneswar; NLUO Postpones Exam

Bhubaneswar: While mystery continued to shroud the death of a law student, who jumped off the 8th floor of an apartment in Odisha capital the previous evening, his last Instagram story, which went viral on Monday, revealed a disturbed mind perhaps coping with some kind of stress.

“Sorry for the promises I couldn’t/wouldn’t be able to keep.  Just consider me a bad and/or a weird memory, and move on. It was what it was. See you guys on the flip side,” shared Aniraj Mansa Tudu.

The 4th year student of National Law University Odisha (NLUO), Cuttack, posted the message on Instagram mentioning his intent minutes before taking the extreme step. Alarmed, his friend from the varsity informed CDA Phase – II police station about him going incommunicado after leaving the college in the evening.

Police traced his mobile phone location to an apartment in Bhubaneswar and informed their counterparts at Kharavela Nagar here around 8.30 pm. However, Aniraj had by then died by suicide by jumping from the eighth floor of Chandrama Apartment.

A resident of Ganga Nagar, the 23-year-old was residing in the varsity hostel. Police are yet to ascertain under what circumstances he went to Chandrama Apartment, where his family once resided. While police have seized his broken mobile phone, the CCTV footage are being examined for some clue into the case.

There were reports that two youths had come looking for him at the apartment. While Aniraj had made the last call to his sister, a suicide note purportedly written by him was seized from his hotel room, sources said.

Meanwhile, NLUO has postponed the exams which were to be held from Tuesday along with inauguration of the library. “We will revert soon about the alternatives to this postponement so as not to hamper your future prospects due to this,” NLUO Vice-Chancellor Ved Kumari said.
