Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre, Bhubaneswar on Saturday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in several districts of Odisha due to the low pressure created over the North Coastal Odisha and neighborhood that lies over north Coastal Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal.
“There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in nine districts of the state in the next 24 hours,” said HR Biswas, director of Regional Meteorological Centre.
These districts are Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Balangir, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh, Nuapada and Sonepur. An alert has been issued by the Centre to be vigilant. Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Dhenkanal districts are also likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Moreover, the Centre has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in eight districts on August 16. These districts are Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Boudh and Balangir.
