Third Terminal At Bhubaneswar Airport In 5-6 Months: Dharmendra
Bhubaneswar: A new terminal at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here will be completed within 5-6 months, said Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while laying the foundation stone of a ‘link building’ to connect the existing two terminals.
The third terminal will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 935 crore and enhance international flight operations at the airport, the Union Minister said.
In view of the increase in the number of air passengers, the Centre in December last year had decided to expand the city airport with the construction of a third terminal. A decision to this effect has been taken after a meeting between the state government and the Civil Aviation Ministry.
The BPIA is one of the fastest growing airports in India. It has registered over 3 million passengers so far and expected to cross 3.5 million to 4 million passenger traffic annually in the future.
