London: Queen Elizabeth II will be buried at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where her father King George VI and her mother Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother are buried along with the ashes of her sister Princess Margaret.
Her husband Prince Philip’s coffin was placed in the 200-year-old Royal Vault beneath St. George’s Chapel after his death last year but it will be moved to the chapel to lie alongside Queen Elizabeth’s, according to media reports.
The funeral of Britain’s longest-serving monarch will begin at 3.30 pm Indian time on Monday. The public mourning will continue across the UK for a week after the funeral.
President Droupadi Murmu, US President Joe Biden and a host of world leaders have arrived in London to attend the funeral.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8 aged 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The queen’s coffin is lying-in-state at Westminster Hall in London.
