Mumbai: Bollywood’s Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan hinted on Saturday that he will be undergoing a surgery, leaving netizens worried. Relax as there is nothing to worry about. The Big B’s corrective surgery is done. And he will be back home on Monday.
“It was nothing; just a laser eye surgery for removing a cataract. He was in and out of OT in no time at all. He will be home in the next 24 hours,” a close friend revealed to Bollywood Hungama on Sunday night.
Bachchan is no stranger to medical conditions, including some borderline life-threatening ones. Cataract surgery is, in the words of a family member, “a child’s play for him”.
Fans Concerned
Sharing an update on his health in a blog entry on Saturday, the 78-year-old actor had posted, “Medical condition… Surgery… Can’t write”.
However, the news of Amitabh’s surgery had his fans worried and many shared their distress on social media. Many also speculated as to what the said condition could be and wished for his speedy recovery.
Thank You, Says Star
After receiving messages of concern and care from fans and well-wishers, Amitabh took to social media to thank them.
In his blog, he wrote, “Thank you for all the concern and the wishes for the medical condition (sic)… Eye surgeries at this age are delicate and need precision handling. The best is being done and one hopes all shall be well.. the sight and the recovery is slow and difficult so if there are typing errors they are to be excused.”
Big B further revealed that he was seeing three letters for each word and therefore has to undergo a surgery. He then said that another surgery will be conducted for his other eye before he begins work on his next film, Vikas Bahl’s tentatively titled ‘Goodbye’, India Today reported.
Work Front
In terms of work, Big B was last seen in Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Gulabo Sitabo’, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana. The film released on Amazon Prime Video last year. He was also seen hosting the 12th season of the TV quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
His upcoming films include Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, and ‘Chehre’ alongside Emraan Hashmi. He will also be seen in the sports drama ‘Jhund’.
