Bhubaneswar: As festive fever grips the world on New Year’s eve, florists are making a roaring business in Odisha capital with soaring demand for flowers.
With overwhelming orders coming in from city-based clubs and hotels, private companies, and citizens, florists had to engage extra manpower for decoration work and making varieties of flower bouquets for clients.
Meanwhile, the florists are expecting a revival of their business as people will celebrate the new year without any COVID restrictions.
“The new year celebrations often see high flower sales. We are expecting people will get flowers to greet each other on the occasion,” Bibhu Prasad, a florist in Unit 6 said.
This year florists have stocked up more than 50 varieties of flowers including star flowers, tuberose, lilium, orchid, anthurium, tiger lily, carnation, and roses in different colours from Bengaluru and Kolkata. “The bouquets are available ranging from Rs 50-1000,” said a florist in the Unit-1 market.
