Three Dalit Sisters Attacked With Chemical In UP’s Gonda District
Lucknow: Three Dalit sisters, including two minors, were attacked with an inflammable liquid, suspected to be acid, while they were sleeping on the second floor of their house in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district on Monday night.
The girls, aged 8, 12 and 17 years, have been admitted to the Gonda district hospital where they are under treatment. The eldest sister suffered major injuries on the face and chest while the other two sustained minor injuries on their hands.
Police officers said that as per the preliminary inquiry, it is believed that the liquid was thrown from the open window of the house. No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is on.
According to the police, the sisters belong to the Dhobi community and fall under the Scheduled Caste category. A police official at the DGP headquarters in Lucknow informed that the girls were sleeping inside the house on the second floor and the attacker climbed up to throw acid from the open window. The incident occurred in Paska village under Paraspur police station limits of Gonda at around 2.30 am on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, HT reported.
