Balasore: Three persons died after a speeding truck rammed into another 10-wheeler, which had broken-down on National Highway 16 in Odisha’s Balasore district late on Sunday night
The incident occurred around 1 am at Dahisada Square under Soro police limits when a truck bearing a Uttar Pradesh registration number crashed into the parked vehicle, which had halted on the roadside for repairs. The front portion of the moving truck was severely damaged under the impact, trapping three occupants inside the cabin. Locals rushed to the scene but were unable to rescue them. Following which, they alerted the fire services and Soro police.
The Fire Services team used a cutter to cut the front portion of the truck and recovered the bodies, which were then sent to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Soro.
Since the truck originated from Uttar Pradesh, the victims are believed to be residents of that state, though their identities have not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Soro police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Efforts are underway to establish the identities of the deceased and inform their families. A post-mortem examination will be conducted once they arrive, sources added.
