Berhampur: Three inmates of Aska Sub-Jail in Ganjam district have tested positive for COVID-19, said Jailor.
In the COVID-19 hotspot district of the state, 54 positive cases have been detected in prisons of Berhampur Circle.
Considering the rapid spread of the pandemic, 5,231 inmates have been released from jails in the circle on parole to decongest the prisons, officials said.
As many as 16,789 jail inmates across the state were released on bail or parole over the last four months, they added.
