Bhubaneswar: Three persons were killed and two injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Odisha on Tuesday afternoon.
In Balangir district, two women of Barakani village were struck by lightning when they had gone to a pond for bathing. One of the women, Panibudi Meswa, died on the spot and the other, Bhumisuta Meswa, sustained burn injuries. She was rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital where her condition is stated to be critical.
In Keonjhar district, a farmer was killed after lightning struck him while he was returning from his field at Kashipur village. The deceased was identified as Raidas Munda.
In Angul district, a youth died and an old man was critically injured after struck by lightning at Athamalik.
