Three Lives Lost In Odisha Road Mishaps
Kendrapara/Rayagada: Three persons were killed and four were injured in two road accidents in Odisha on Thursday.
In the first incident, two persons died and three were seriously injured when their SUV collided with a stationary truck at Nayan Vihar Chhak near Duhuria in Kendrapara district in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to reports, the families of Debasish Panda and Bijay Sahu of Kajala village had gone to Puri on New Year’s Day for the darshan of Lord Jagannath. The two families were on way back to their village when the SUV driver lost control and rammed into the truck standing on the roadside.
While Bijay Sahu died on the spot, Pranati Panda, wife of Debasish Panda, succumbed to her injuries at the district headquarters hospital. Police later admitted Debashis, his younger son and a relative of Bijay Sahu to a private nursing home in Bhubaneswar, where their condition is stated to be critical.
In another incident, a tanker driver was killed and the helper seriously injured when their vehicle fell off a ghat road at Gumma in Rayagada district early on Thursday.
Sources said the Madhya Pradesh-bound tanker was carrying aluminium powder from Utkal Alumina at Tikiri when the mishap occured.
Police and a Fire Brigade team later brought out the dead driver’s body by cutting open the cabin door. The helper was rushed to the district headquarters hospital.
