Kerala: The Kerala police on Saturday booked three popular Malayalam actors for insulting a fellow woman actor on social media platform.
According to the police, the complainant has alleged that actress Beena Antony, her husband Manoj and actress Swasika insulted her and tried to defame her through their YouTube channels.
“The complainant has alleged that Beena, Manoj and Swasika insulted her through their YouTube channels out of revenge as she raised allegations against prominent actors,” PTI reported, quoting a police officer.
The three actors have been charged under Section 79 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which refers to “word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman”.
After the release of Justice Hema Committee report, the complainant had raised allegations against some bigwigs in the Malayalam film industry.
Earlier, the complainant had lodged complaints against actor Jayasurya, actor M Mukesh and former AMMA secretary Edavela Babu, alleging that they had made ‘derogatory comments’ against her after she raised her voice against some prominent people of the industry.
