Nabarangpur: Three migrant Odia workers reached their homes in the district on Sunday after cycling all the way from their workplace in Pune.
The three persons had left Odisha on June 9 last year to work in an automobile company in Pune, Maharashtra. Following imposition of national lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, their company closed down, according to a Kanak TV report.
With no employment and everything closed down due to the lockdown, they found it tough to continue staying in Pune. They decided to return home.
As bus and train services were not available at the time they decided to return, the workers bought bicycles with the money they had saved and set out for Odisha.
It took them 14 days to cover around 1,300 km from Pune to Nabarangpur. After reaching here, they have were accommodated in quarantine centres after thermal screening.
