Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm for three days amid light to moderate rainfall forecast till 8.30 am on September 6.
Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sonepur districts till 8.30 am on September 2, the MeT office said in its midday bulletin.
A similar warning has been issued for Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi districts from 8.30 am on September 3 till 8.30 am on September 3 and again for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Cuttack districts from 8.30 am on September 3 till 8.30 am on September 4.
According to the weather reports, 11 places across the state recorded 35 degree Celsius and above in the last 24 hours. Chandbali in Bhadrak district witnessed the highest temperature of 37.2 degree Celsius followed by 36.5 °C in Sambalpur and 36.1 °C in Angul.
