Bhubaneswar: Rain or thunderstorm, accompanied by lightning and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) is likely to lash Cuttack city till around 5 pm on Wednesday.
Along with Cuttack, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for Khurda district during this period.
Similar warning has also been sounded for Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Sundargarh, Mayurbhan and Keonjhar districts. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
According to the midday bulletin, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) may occur at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput till 8.30 am on March 26 with trough running from Gangetic West Bengal to south Chhattisgarh across Odisha.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Angul and Dhenkanal.
There is no warning for the subsequent 24 hours. The day temperature is expected to gradually rise by 2-4°C during these 2 days.
On March 27, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) may resume at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balangir, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam.
A similar warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput during the subsequent 24 hours. Light to moderate rain may also occur in some parts of the state during this period, it added.
