Bhubaneswar: The intensity of thunderstorm activities with strong winds may gradually diminish in Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
There is a yellow warning of thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph for one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Angul and Cuttack districts till 8.30 am on Saturday. Light to moderate rain is also likely in these districts during this period.
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning , gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and light to moderate rain may continue at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts during the subsequent 24 hours.
Yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning has been sounded for one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, and Rayagada on April 6.
The weather agency further stated that light to moderate rain may continue in Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati, and Rayagada district on April 7, South Odisha districts on April 8, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati on April 9 and coastal Odisha ,Malkangiri, Rayagada and Koraput on April 10, with little change in the weather conditions thereafter.
However, the day temperature is expected to rise by 2-3 degree Celsius after 2 days, it added.
