Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity along with gusty wind will continue in Odisha till May 18, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
In the next 24 hours, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Koraput and Malkangiri. Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.
A few places in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and one or two places in the rest of the state are likely to experience light to moderate rain.
MAY 16
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Cuttack. Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Sundargarh.
Light to moderate rain has been forecast for a few places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore, and at one or two places in the remaining districts of Odisha.
MAY 17
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and thunderstorm with lightning is also likely at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda and Puri.
Light to Moderate Rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places in Interior Odisha and at one or two places in coastal Odisha.
MAY 18
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack.
Light to moderate rain is also likely at a few places in North Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and at one or two places in rest districts of Odisha.
Rainfall activity will continue the following day with light to moderate rain forecast for a few places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, and Kalahandi and at one or two places in the remaining districts of the state.
The MeT office further said that there will be no change in the maximum temperature during the next four to five days. On Saturday, 11 places had recorded more than 40 degree Celsius on Saturday with Sonepur being the hottest at 43 degree Celsius.
