Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for 10 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 6.40 pm on Wednesday.
Thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain is likely in some parts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Boudh, Cuttack and Khurda districts in three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strike.
Notably, orange warning for thunderstorm accompanied with squall and wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph and lightning has been issued for one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak till 8.30 am on Thursday. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Keonjhar, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh and Dhenkanal during this period.
There is also a forecast for light to moderate rain at a few places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and at one or two places in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Boudh.
