Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said that sultry weather condition would continue in interior Odisha with thunderstorms activity over coastal and adjoining districts.
Orange warning for thunderstorm accompanied with squall and wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph and lightning has been issued for one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak till 8.30 am on Thursday. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Keonjhar, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh and Dhenkanal.

A trough running from North Bihar to central Chhattisgarh helped bring the nor’wester to Odisha, which saw rain and gusty wind lashing southern and coastal districts, including Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack and Khurda, leading to a drop in the temperature on Tuesday, the weatherman said.
The MeT office, however, said that there will be no large change in the day temperature during the next 5 days and the mercury may soar to 42°C or more at a few places in interior Odisha – Nuapada, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Angul, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Kalahandi.
On Tuesday, 18 places in the state had recorded 40°C or more with Sambalpur being the hottest at 44.3°C followed by Boudh, Nuapada and Balangir at 44°C .
