Thunderstorm, Rain To Bring Down Temp In Odisha By 4-6°C; Fishermen Asked Not To Enter Sea For 3 Days Due To Swell Waves
Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odish are likely to experience thunderstorm coupled with rain, lightning and gusty surface wind in the next few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
While rainfall activities are likely to bring the much-needed respite from the scorching heatwave, some parts of the state are likely to experience gusty surface wind with speed reaching 30-40 kmph for the next few days.
While no large change in the maximum (day) temperature is likely to take place during the next 24 hours, the mercury may drop by 4 to 6 degree Celsius thereafter in subsequent 3-4 days in many places over Odisha, the weather agency said.
Light rain or thundershower is likely to occur at some places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, and Rayagada in next 24 hours.
However, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Boudh, Angul, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Balangir.
Meanwhile, the weather agency said that due to anticipated strong gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph likely along and off north Odisha coast during May May 6 to 8. Fisherman are advised not to venture into sea along and off north Odisha coast during this period.
Due to anticipated by high energy swell waves near shore region and low lying areas, fishermen and coastal population are alerted to be cautious on possible surging of waves (gushing of sea water).
