Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued thunderstorm warning for 16 districts and heavy rainfall warning in three districts of Odisha.
The Met department has said that under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and neighbourhood, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph will occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Cuttack and Khurda districts while heavy rain will lash one or two places in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore on Sunday.
As the rainfall activity in the state will gradually increase and continue till June 4, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts.
June 1
Heavy rain at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Balasore, Sonepur, Boudh and Malkangiri.
June 2
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Cuttack, Puri, Deogarh, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Kandhamal.
June 3
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Kandhamal, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Kalahandi.
June 4
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak.
