Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre here on Thursday issued thunderstorm warning for 11 districts of Odisha.
“Latest satellite imageries indicate that moderate thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak between 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm,” said weather scientist LD Mohapatra in a release.
On Tuesday, the weatherman had predicted a dip in temperature in most parts of Odisha, which is reeling under scorching heat, with light rain or thundershower at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Rayagada in the subsequent 24 hours.
“For March 14, we have issued a warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind at one or two places in north interior Odisha, Nayagarh and Kandhamal districts in the south. Similarly, for March 15, we have sounded warning for thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by the gusty wind at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Angul districts,” the weatherman added.
