Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm for three days this week.
Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur in Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore districts till 8.30 am on August 30, the MeT office said in its midday bulletin.
With a partly cloudy sky, there is a possibility of moderate rain or thundershower in Bhubaneswar. The maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 35°C and 26 °C respectively, it said.
A similar warning has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts from 8.30 am on August 31 till 8.30 am on September 1 and again for Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Kandhamal. districts from 8.30 am on September 1 till 8.30 am on September 2.
Although no rain warning has been issued, light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue till September 2.
Notably, the maximum temperature was 35 degree Celsius and above at seven places in Odisha in the last 24 hours. Malkangari was the hottest city at 36 degree Celsius.
