Thunderstorm With Lightning & Gusty Wind Likely In Several Odisha Districts For 2 Days

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning with forecast of thunderstorm and rainfall in several districts of Odisha in next 2 days.

The regional centre of the IMD in Bhubaneswar, in its evening bulletin, said thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal in next 24 hours.

Thunderstorm with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places in the rest districts of Odisha, it added.

The trough from the above cyclonic circulation over East Rajasthan and adjoining West Madhya Pradesh
to Northwest Bay of Bengal across north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal persists at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm has occurred at most places in the state with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malakangiri, Koraput, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj.

Jeypore in Koraput district received maximum rainfall of 15 mm, followed by Mathili in Malkangiri with 13, Koraput 12, Tihidi in Bhadrak 11 and Remuna in Balasore and Basudevpur in Bhadrak with 9 mm.

For Bhubaneswar, the IMD forecast that there would be generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain and thundershower. Maximum and minimum temperature are most likely to be around 32 degree Celsius and 21 degree Celsius respectively.
