Bhubaneswar: While thunderstorm activity may continue in Odisha till April 10, the India Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted a rise in the day temperature across the state after 3 days.
“There will be no large change in maximum temperature during the next 3 days & thereafter gradual rise by 4-6 °C over the districts of Odisha.”
A trough, running from Gangetic West Bengal to Gulf of Mannar across the cyclonic circulation over Odisha, is also triggering rains in the state.
The weather agency has issued an orange warning for the districts in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Puri on April 7 and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jajpur on April 8.
On April 7, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) and hail is likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Angul, and similar weather conditions along with heavy rainfall may occur in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Jajpur and Dhenkanal. Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) may also occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Puri districts.
Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) may also occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Deogarh.
On April 8, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph), hail and heavy rainfall may continue at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jajpur districts.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) may also occur in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh & Sambalpur during this period. Similar weather conditions with wind speed at 30-40 kmph may prevail in Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Bargarh and Jharsuguda.
On April 9, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) are likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Similar weather conditions may prevail on April 10 in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.
