Mumbai/Kota: Three suspected shooters allegedly involved in the firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai have been nabbed at Rajasthan’s Kota railway station while travelling by train, police said on Monday.
The accused were apprehended from the Pune-Jaipur Express in a joint operation by the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and Kota City Police, based on inputs from Mumbai Police.
Earlier, the first pictures of the suspected shooters came out as Mumbai Police stepped up their search for the accused. One close-up photo showed two men standing together. One of them was wearing a black cap.
Two of the accused are from Haryana and one is from Bihar, according to initial details.
Investigators suspect all three have links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, though the police have not officially confirmed the gang connection.
One accused is a 17-year-old minor from Sonipat, Haryana. The other two have been identified as Hritik Kumar alias Roshan, 22, from Begusarai in Bihar, who reportedly lives in Mumbai’s Andheri West and works as a Rapido rider, and Rehan, 18, also from Sonipat, as reported by NDTV.
Police said two of the suspects were allegedly hired shooters, while the third is suspected of helping them flee after the attack. Investigators are verifying the exact roles of each accused.
What Happened In Juhu
Unidentified assailants opened fire at Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area at around 7 pm on Sunday as the actor was leaving a football ground. Shroff escaped a direct bullet injury, while his driver and another person were injured.
According to investigators, the attackers had allegedly conducted a recce of the actor’s movements and knew that he regularly visited the Juhu football ground on Sundays. After the firing, they reportedly fled along SV Road through Vile Parle and Andheri, abandoned their motorcycle near Andheri West railway station and boarded a train.
Gang’s Claim Under Probe
A social media post purportedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack. Police have not yet verified the authenticity of the claim.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff at his Bandra residence late on Sunday night and assured the family of adequate security. He warned that gang violence would not be tolerated in Mumbai and said action against criminal networks would be intensified.
