Peshawar: A TikTok star committed suicide after a female fan turned down his marriage proposal.
Shahzad Ahmad, a 20-year-old from Peshawar in Pakistan, had over a million followers on the Chinese video-sharing app. According to a report in The Express Tribune, he had tried to commit suicide a few months ago, but was saved.
He was, however, successful in taking his own life on his second attempt.
“He was in love with a girl but her father turned down his marriage proposal repeatedly… Shahzad got very depressed and committed suicide,” the victim’s brother Sajjad mentioned in a police complaint.
A friend of Shahzad said that a girl who claimed to be his fan approached him.
“The relation developed beyond a friendship. Shahzad wanted to marry him, but his proposal was turned down as the girl was just 16 years old and was still a school student.
