Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Authority on Sunday extended the validity of learner’s license (LL) till March 31, 2021.
As per the STA, the motorists whose LL had expired since March 18, 2020, or those which will expire by December 31 will be treated as valid till March 31, next year.
As per a tweet by the STA, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways had in August issued a notice regarding extension of validity of fitness, permit (all types), registration certificate and driving license till December 31, 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Accordingly, the STA implemented the orders. But, as the DL test was cancelled from March 18 this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a large number of people who had applied for it could not take the test.
“Subsequently slot quota was opened with less strength at Regional Transport Offices. Persons possessing LL could not apply online for final DL due to unavailability of slots in SARATHI application,” tweeted STA.
