Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), the governing body of the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh, has taken action against 18 of its employees for allegedly participating in “non-Hindu religious activities.”

The non-Hindu employees have been barred from taking part in any religious activity of the temple and transferred to positions not connected to the temple.

The board’s executive order, issued on February 1, identified the employees who were found to be involved in practices inconsistent with Hindu traditions.

The transferred employees include six teachers from various TTD educational institutes, including Dr KV Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, a professor at SV Ayurvedic College, and K Sujatha and G Asuntha, lecturer and principal, respectively, at the SPW Degree and PG College, The Indian Express reported.

The board’s decision is in keeping with its commitment to preserve the spiritual sanctity of its temples and religious activities.

Among other affected employees are A Ananda Raju, Deputy Executive Officer of Welfare, and A Rajashekar Babu, Assistant Executive Officer for Auctions.

Workers from the technical, medical and administrative sectors have also been transferred.
