Bhubaneswar: Anganwadi centres, which provide basic health care and supplementary nutrition to children and women in rural areas, will soon have toilet and drinking water facilities, said women and child development minister Prafulla Samal on Thursday.
Speaking about the proactive steps being taken in convergence with panchayati raj and rural development departments for construction of toilets in anganwadi centres, the minister said provisions are also being made to provide drinking water at such centres from finance commission awards.
While highlight his department’s achievements in the last three years, Samal said Odisha leads when it comes to number of anganwadi centres constructed in convergence with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. “A total of 3, 354 buildings have already been constructed and work on another 7,385 is on,” he added.
