Tokyo Olympics: India’s Champion Wrestler Ravi Kumar Loses Gold Medal Bout
Tokyo: Wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya went down fighting against Russia’s Zavur Uguev to settle for a silver medal in men’s freestyle 57 kg at the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday.
Ravi Kumar lost the gold medal bout 4-7 to the two-time world champion, one of the most dominant wrestlers in this weight category in the last three years.
The Indian seeded fourth tried his best to match the 26-year-old Russian but could not break his defence.
This is the second silver medal for India in the Games.
Mirabai Chanu had won India’s first medal by clinching silver in the women’s 49 kg weightlifting event on July 31.
Earlier in the day, the men’s hockey team clinched the bronze, putting an end to 41 years of medal drought, by defeating Germany 5-4.
