Bhubaneswar: After being shifted to Jharpada jail here from Boipariguda jail, top Maoist leader Dubasi Shankar alias Arun was interrogated by a National Investigation Agency (NIA) special team on Thursday regarding the killing of BSF personnel near Balimela in Malkangiri in 2012.
Arun was earlier brought to Jharpada jail on the orders of the Jeypore SDJM court. The NIA had earlier filed a petition with the Jeypore SDJM seeking its nod to interrogate him. The investigation agency wants to elicit more information on the Maoist ambush in which four BSF personnel were killed in 2012.
Arun was an active member of the CPI (Maoist) since 1987 and involved in a series of violent attacks in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Wanted in several crimes, Arun carried a cash reward of Rs 20 lakh on his head. He was arrested by the security forces in Koraput on September 14 this year.
