Malkangiri: Police have arrested a top woman Maoist cadre, carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on her head, from a forest area in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
Basing on specific input regarding presence of a lady Maoist in Kurti jungle area under MV-79 police station in the district, an operation was launched to verify the information.
During the search operation, an unidentified woman of about 22 years age was found moving there in suspicious circumstances. The security forces nabbed her and started interrogation.
She revealed during questioning that she was a Maoist cadre and had come there for collecting logistics. On further interrogation, her identity was established as Anti Madvi alias Lakey alias Lake. She belonged to Pulhar village under Jangla police station of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh.
Madvi said she joined the Maoists in 2017 under the leadership of Sukram (DCM) of West Bastar Division (CG). Since 2020, she was in Protection Team of Maoist leader Uday and was carrying SLR weapon.
As a close aide of Uday, she was involved in several incidents of Maoist violence in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.
Following her confession, the lady Maoist was arrested and would be forwarded to the court, a release from Odisha Police said.
