Bhubaneswar: The state government is all set to modernize Badambadi bus terminus in Cuttack with an investment of Rs 3.5 crore, informed transport minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu on Thursday.
Following a high-level meeting, the minister said, “Hundreds of buses ply to different places across the state from the terminus. So, the government has decided for total renovation of the terminus to accommodate more buses and provide hassle-free journey to the commuters.”
Sahu said Rs 1.06 crores have been deposited with Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation and the work is expected to start in the second week of September.
“The makeover plan would include attractive waiting lounge, restaurant, spic and span urinals, a bus bay and safe drinking water facility. We hope to complete these by January next year,” he added.
Though Private Bus Owners Association has welcomed the move, residents are apprehensive about its timely completion as similar plans in the past have failed to see the light of the day.
