New Delhi: Toyota has finally launched the Yaris sedan at a starting price of Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The top end is priced at Rs 14.07 lakh (ex-showroom). The Yaris will compete directly with other C-segment sedans such as the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and the Skoda Rapid. Toyota is expecting a 7-8 % increase in overall sales with this new model.
The Yaris comes only in petrol. It has a 107PS 1.5-litre dual VVT-i petrol engine. It has an option of a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed CVT automatic that is available across the range. There is no word on a diesel variant as of now.
Coming to equipment, a 7-inch touchscreen is standard from the 2nd variant onwards. Height adjustable driver seat, keyless entry, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs), air gesture control, Weblink, MiracastTM, HDMI, roof mounted rear AC vents with a remote control, navigation are available on most trims. There is also a remote control available with the touchscreen apart from a gesture control system.
Safety-wise, the Yaris is the first car in the segment to be loaded with seven airbags, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist as standard from the base model. The top end gets vehicle stability control and tyre pressure monitoring system.
