Balasore: TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has established five skill development centres in the region, focusing on enhancing the practical technical and safety competencies of its employees, business associates, and young ITI students in the region.
These centres, equipped with cutting-edge facilities, provide hands-on training in safe working procedures, modern technology, and advanced electrical techniques, fostering a culture of excellence in the power distribution sector, a company press release said.
The centres trained 354 government ITI electrician students from five districts in the previous year, while over 440 students have undertaken various training and awareness sessions in the current financial year. Additionally, the centres trained over 4,000 employees last year, and an impressive 13,877 employees of TPNODL and its partner organizations have benefited from training programs this year. To date, the centres have conducted over 600 training programmes, including 235 focused on safety and 374 on electrical work, underscoring TPNODL’s commitment to excellence and safety.
The Skill Development Centres have received commendable feedback from students, who appreciate the practical knowledge and safety training imparted by industry experts. In a significant initiative, TPNODL has introduced the ‘Train to Hire’ scheme, offering campus training to electrical trade students from regional government diploma colleges, with preference for employment at TPNODL.

He further emphasized that TPNODL’s Skill Development Centers are designed to enhance the skills of Odisha’s youth, thereby contributing to the overall development of the energy sector in the state, while providing employability opportunities for young students.
