Bhubaneswar: The Assistant Engineer, Electrical, Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPSODL), Borriguma in Koraput district, has been found in possession of assets amounting to Rs 2.02 crore or 246% of his known sources of income.
The Assistant Engineer, Prabeen Kumar Hota, was caught by Odisha Vigilance on February 23 for demanding and accepting undue advantage of Rs 10,000 from a complainant to facilitate continuance of his contractual engagement.
Hota was arrested on February 24 and the next day he was forwarded to court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were conducted at the following places on February24:
Residential house Semiliguda, Koraput.
Triple storeyed building at Semiliguda.
Residential rented house at Borigumma, Dist-Koraput.
House at native village Digapada, under Kodala police limits in Ganjam district.
Office room at Borigumma.
After a thorough search, Hota was found in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 2.02 crore, stated the Vigilance in its released.
Koraput Vigilance registered a case against him on March 11 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 as amended by PC
(Amendment) Act. 2018.
Hota is in jail custody, the Vigilance has submitted his remand report.
