Sambalpur: The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Sambalpur on Sunday ordered a departmental probe into the death of an elephant after it was hit by a speeding train near Gargadbahal village between Jujumura and Hatibari in the district.
The DRM directed officials to ascertain how and under what circumstances the incident took place.
Railway sources said that the elephant was killed after being hit by Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Intercity Express on Saturday night when it was crossing the railway tracks.
