Tremors In Marathwada Region As Earthquake Of 4.5 Magnitude Hits Maharashtra
Bhubaneswar: Maharashtra was struck by an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 on the Richter Scale on Wednesday.
According to reports, no immediate reports of damage or casualties were received.
The National Centre for Seismology said that tremors were felt around 7.14 am. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km. “EQ of M: 4.5, On: 10/07/2024 07:14:53 IST, Lat: 19.43 N, Long: 77.32 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Hingoli, Maharashtra,” it posted on X.
The Nanded district administration, in a release, said that the epicentre was Rameshwar Tanda village in Kalamnuri taluka of Hingoli and its impact was felt in Hingoli, Nanded, Parbhani, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (all in Marathwada region) and Washim (in Vidarbha).
The district administration has appealed to the people to remove stones kept on the tin rooftops (to add weight) of their houses.
A NDTV report said authorities were monitoring the situation closely as more details were awaited.
