Trinamool Boycotts 3 TV Channels For ‘Anti-Bengal Agenda Driven Propaganda’

New Delhi: As protests continued over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a state-run medical college in Kolkata, the Trinamool Congress on Monday said that it would boycott three news channels, alleging an “anti-Bengal, agenda-driven propaganda.”

Mamata Banerjee’s party, in a statement, said that they will not be sending spokespersons to these channels for discussions.

The party alleged that the channels are compelled to “appease the Zamindars of Delhi, given the investigations and ongoing enforcement cases their promoters and companies are facing”.

It also urged people “not to be misled by individuals portrayed as party supporters or sympathisers” on channels during the debates. The statement said these people are not authorised by the party and do not represent its official stance.

“The people of Bengal have consistently rejected this unholy Bangla Birodhi Nexus and have always chosen truth over propaganda,” the statement mentioned.

TV debates on Bengali channels are witnessing shouting matches between Trinamool and BJP leaders.

The BJP, which has been protesting against the state government, demanded the CM’s resignation, asserting that she had failed to ensure the safety and security of women, making West Bengal the most unsafe state in the country.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress rejected the BJP’s charges, accusing them of exploiting public discontent over the rape and murder and attempting to destabilise the democratically elected Mamata Banerjee government.
