Bhubaneswar: The place near Bahanaga railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district, where the triple train accident took place on Friday night, will be cleared of the debris by Saturday night.
“Efforts are underway to clear the leftover wreckage of derailed trains from the track. Restoration work will continue throughout the night,” said NDRF DIG Mohsen Shahidi while speaking to ANI.
After the Railways announced end of rescue operation, the restoration work was started by different agencies at the accident spot. While 17 mangled compartments remain piled up at the place, almost all victims have been rescued.
Reports said there is possibility of some victims remaining crushed under one compartment which has not been explored so far.
Speaking to media persons, Odisha’s Director General, Fire Services, Sudhanshu Sarangi said the possibility could not be ruled out. “Our crane could not lift the bogey. Another heavyweight crane has arrived for the purpose. We will lift the coaches one by one to confirm that no survivor is left under those,” he said.
