Mumbai: Actress Triptii Dimri’s bold character in the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Animal’ was lauded by cine-goers and critics, and had made her a popular face overnight.
However, her bold image in the movie has now become the reason for her loss.
Last year, the makers of ‘Aashiqui 3’ announced that Triptii had been roped in opposite Kartik Aaryan in the film and the actors had shot for the muhurat also.
On Tuesday, Mid-Day reported that the actress is no longer a part of the project.
“Triptii was excited to headline the romance, but that’s not going to happen now. Aashiqui 3 is undergoing a (title)-related dispute. So, it has been postponed indefinitely,” the report said quoting a source.
The report further stated that the actress had left the film because of the delay in the shoot.
However, an industry source has revealed that makers of ‘Aashiqui 3’ dropped the actress from the project after the initial look test shot.
“The fundamental requirement to be the heroine of Aashiqui 3 is innocence reflecting through, and as observed by the team behind the film, Triptii Dimri with her recent films has become too exposed to be cast in this romantic film which demands purity in demeanour from the female lead,” the source told Hindustan Times.
Triptii’s bold image in ‘Animal’ apparently made the filmmakers change their mind about casting her in the love story, which required an innocent and pure character.
“Aashiqui is a legendary, soulful love story and the makers do not see Tripti fitting the parameters. After Animal, there has been no buzz around her. More so, her solo standing at the box office hasn’t proven profitable with her recent films,” the source added.
Netizens were quick to question ‘Ramayana’ makers for casting ‘Animal’ lead actor Ranbir Kapoor as Ram.
The trolls against Ranbir soon rolled out.
One user wrote, “Lol while Animal Ranbir gonna play Lord Rama.”
Another posted, “Lol Iss hisab se Ranbir ko toh Ramayan ke aas paas bhi nhi hona chahiye lol.”
“Why’s Ranbir portraying a god then?” another user commented.
Initially, ‘Aashiqui 3’ was supposed to be co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt.
But in March 2024, Bhushan Kumar announced that he was producing the film alone and had renamed the film as ‘Tu Aashiqui Hai’.
The film is likely to be directed by Anurag Basu.
