Etawah: At least 12 lives were lost and 43 others were injured after a DCM truck they were travelling in fell into a 25-feet deep gorge at Chakkarnagar road near Udi crossing in Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
According to SSP Brijesh Kumar Singh, Agra resident Birendra Singh Baghel was heading to Kalka Devi Temple in Lakhna town to hoist a flag to mark his son’s birthday. Baghel was carrying 60-70 people in the truck.
As the truck approached Chakkarnagar road close to Udi crossing, it lost control and fell into a deep pit, reported news agency IANS.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has condoled deaths and also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the dependents of those who lost their lives in the accident.
