Keonjhar: Holi celebration ended on a tragic note after three members of a family were mowed down by a truck near Dolita Chhak, close to Champua police station, in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Saturday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Ivan Pradhan, his wife Mathamani Pradhan, and their son Mangal Pradhan, of Sanani village in the Champua region.
According to sources, the accident took place as they were reaching the house of Pradhan’s son-in-law, for celebrating the festival. Pradhan died on the spot, his wife succumbed at Champua hospital and Mangal breathed his last while being shifted to Keonjhar.
Following which, Irate locals staged a blockade at Dolita Chhak, pointing at the urgent need for road safety measures. Police have reached the spot trying to placate the agitators.
