Twitterati React With Shock, Mockery, Epicaricacy As Trump Tests COVID Positive
Twitter has been having a field day since President of the United States (POTUS) Donald Trump informed that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19. Shock, consternation, mockery and epicaricacy were among emotions that Tweeple expressed after Trump’s tweeted the news.
While many world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern and wished for the Trumps’ speedy recovery, several others found reason to ridicule the POTUS.
Trump, who had earlier refused to admit the severity of the deadly infection and had often been seen without mask at public gatherings, became a butt of some, as he himself would say, “nasty” jokes online.

The President was reminded it’s a “hoax”, as he had earlier called the virus, and was advised to ask people to wear a mask.
Don’t worry, Donald Trump. It’s a hoax.

Today would be a good day for @realDonaldTrump to tell people to wear masks.

However, not everyone enjoyed Trump’s positive report. Many fretted about the upcoming November 3 Presidential election. The business took a tumble, with US stock market and Asian shares falling. The future contracts of both the S&P 500 and the Dow industrials lost 1.9%, reported AP. Oil prices, stock prices in Japan and Australia saw a decline too.
Here are some ‘get well soon’ messages:
Wishing my friend @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS a quick recovery and good health. https://t.co/f3AOOHLpaQ
— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) October 2, 2020
Praying for a swift recovery for @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS. They’re fighters, and will beat this together.
