Two Arrested For Pasting ‘Missing’ Posters Of Odisha MP

Balasore: Shadevkhunta Police on Tuesday arrested two persons from Balasore town for allegedly putting up missing posters of local MP and Union Minister Pratap Sarangi.

Posters claiming that Sarangi had been ‘missing’ were found pasted on walls in streets of Balasore town on Sunday. The following day, Samir Shankar Kanungo, a leader of Basta unit of BJP, lodged a complaint at Sahadevkhunta police station alleging that Youth Congress president of Basta Sudhanshu Sekhar Jena, Sanjib Giri, Gyanendra Mohanty, Mohammad Sheikh and Goutam Sahu were involved in pasting the posters.

Kannungo further accused the Youth Congress leader and his associates of launching a vilification campaign against the Union Minister on social media.

Jena said that he had posted his reaction on social media to protest against the apathy of the MP, who had not visited his home constituency despite the severe impact of the cyclone Amphan, which had worsened the plight of migrant workers at the government quarantine centres.
