Bhubaneswar: Chandaka police on Thursday arrested two persons in connection with the recovery of the headless body of a woman along Chandaka-Bharatpur road on the outskirts of Odisha capital.
According to sources, the accused persons are from Jharan Basti in Mancheswar area of the city.
The arrested persons had an alleged illicit relationship with the woman, details of which will be shared at a press meet soon, said sources in the Commissionerate Police.
Police have also recovered the missing head of the deceased woman from Bharatpur forest, two km away from the site where the body was recovered on February 4, during crime scene recreation with the two accused, the sources added.
The recovered head has been sent for postmortem.
The victim has been identified as Puspalata, a resident of Ganjam district. She was also staying in a slum area under Mancheswar police limits.

Notably, police had announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for any information that can help identify the woman as the body remained unclaimed days after its recovery.
The first postmortem report of the body had revealed that the woman was beheaded with a sharp weapon after being strangled to death. It was again been sent to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for re-autopsy.
